For example, say I have a Squier 75 Jazz bass VM, and I want to change out all the chrome parts for gold (bridge, tuners, neck and controls plate, screws, all that) will I be able to do that using Fender parts without doing a lot of filling and drilling of the screw holes?
In other words, can I use Fender parts as direct replacements on a Squier? (sorry if I'm being redundant.)
What about pickups? I undersatnd that some cheaper instruments (such as Squier) will use the same pickup in both bridge and neck positons, with the same dimensiosn, but a "real" Fender Jazz bass pup set includes two differently sized pups for the different positions, is that right?

Having just bought a new pickguard for my Squier Musicmaster bass I can tell you that the screw holes between that and my Fender Musicmaster don't line up, not a huge difference between them but enough to make some adjustment/work necessary.

This is pretty much the case with all Squier vs. outright Fender parts. Even unto themselves, not all Squier parts will retrofit all other Squiers even of the same model.
