is acetone safe to use on the bass? previous owner colored the pickguard with pink marker, and also put a ton of stickers all over.

No. That will remove the finish and possibly melt the plastic. Use naptha (lighter fluid), believe it or not.

WD40 has worked for me in the past too to get sticker residue off.

can a person use windex or 409 & be ok?? the reason I ask is I picked up a squier P Bass affinity model & it's got like pop or koolade it looks like splattered on it so I need to clean it off. I know this is a dumb question but on all my other guitars I keep them super clean & always wipe them down with a micro fiber cloth after each use& have never had to worry about anything like this.

Windex and 409 should be ok for emergencies. Myself, for general maintenance, I use Planet Waves Shine spray cleaner and mantainer. Also, to help with removing sticker residue, look into Goo-Gone, it's made specifically for that. I think it should be OK on your bass. Anybody here ever use it on their bass or guitar?

Welcome!

As Windex and 409 were designed for plastics (among other things), there will be no problem. Even on the finish, you're OK because the finish is essentially, plastic based too.

If it were me however, I'd use naptha (lighter fluid). It gets off the vast majority of stubborn muck and it won't hurt the guitar or its components. Needless to say, naptha is flammable so take appropriate safeguards.
