I freaking love my Classic Vibe Jazz Bass. It's the one that's white with the brown tortoise-shell pickguard. When my dad bought it for me he slapped on some Thomastik-Infeld flatwounds on there and I'm going to town baby! With the flats you gets a real booming and thumping noise with lots of bottom end and I can get as much high end with the treble even with the flats on. However I'm thinking of changing the strings either to Rotosound SwingBass Strings or JazzBass Flats (Probably rounds first, they're cheaper, then flats).

Anyways, point is, you really don't need to spent +1000 for a good quality bass especially if you're in high school like me. When I get a job I'm gonna save up for a Modified Fretless and later on I'd like to get the Geddy Lee and 1970s Jazz Basses and the 1950s Roadworn Fiesta Red Precision Bass.

Any comments on the bass while still on topic for those who have it? I'll post a pic with me playing it later.

I have played a number of those Classic vibe Jazz basses and they all sound great to me.

If I didn't already own several USA jazz basses , I would buy one with no hesitation.

It a great bass for the money and the Classic Vibe Precisions are great too.

I don't know how they did it, but these basses have the "Fender tone"

Short answer no, but in reality yes.

I've played a coupel of the CV's both guitars and basses, and they're amazing instruments no doubt about it. For the money they're a fantastic deal. So if you don't got the money thier a great place to start, I've even thought about picking up the CV Jazz bass myself. In the long run though you're best to save for a US standard because ultimately that's where you're going to end up.
