I'd be interested in reading about what owners think of their Classic Vibe Precision Bass '50s. TIA!

I have played around with one at GC before, but it wasn't my thing. It's a nice looking bass though.
Here's some reading for you to go cross-eyed to.

Played one at the music store the other day and thought it was a great bass. Mostly cause it's excelent price! The pickup had a great sound to it and the lake placid blue looks rad!

I've had mine and been playing it almost exclusively for almost a year now. It's a great little bass. I set it up myself with no real problems. Because of the severe dry air now I have some fret sprout that I'll fix soon.

I replaced the stock pickup (which isn't bad if you play rock and use roundwounds) with a custom wound one from Pete Biltoft and got the sound I wanted using Thomastic flats. I don't go for the raw modern P bass sounds but prefer what they got back in the 50s and 60s.

I can't say anything bad about the bass really. Bit of single coil noise which is less than I expected but not a real problem for me. The only way to eliminate that would be with a humbucking pickup and that would change the sound which I like very much now. The bass is very well shielded inside. I don't know how it'll hold up in the long run but so far there is no problem. It stays in tune as well as any of my expensive basses and the neck doesn't shift any more than the best of them. The finish seems tough enough and should hold up well, and I'm pretty easy on my instruments. For the price I paid I think it's steal, even considering the cost of the custom pickup (about $100 with shipping to Canada) and the Thomastic strings. The strings are good for many years and the pickup life is indefinite. I can't see spending way more for a made in Japan Fender.

I think if you really want the look and sound of the 54 P bass you can't go wrong.

Edit to add--it's says I'm a "hobbyist" above. Actually I'm a semi-retired professional musician and have been playing since 1961. Don't know how to change that.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. There very well may be one in my future now. And yes, I really do want the look and sound of the 54 P bass. I've been plugging away at it since '67, myself.

The title, "hobbyist" was given to you and will change again by with the quantity of your posts. It's a system thing where we can't change it.

Again, I thank you and everyone else who commented.

Thanks for clearing that up Martian.

I think you'll really like the Squier P. Too bad there aren't more colours available, but still, it's a pretty nice looking blue.

And thank you once again, too!

Surely, I have NO problem with that blue.
