Are any of you farmiliar with the squire iffinity jazz bass? Because I'm looking to make upgrades. I'm gonna make a list and I'm just wondering if the upgrades will fit and or work or if it's worth it price wise.

From warmoth.com I think I'll get a silver perloid jazz bass pickguard.

Another will be EMG jazz bass pickups (passive)

(possible)bridge high mass

(possibly)neck warmoth jazz bass with tele head stock

Also... I hear the bridge pup on a jazz is a tiny bit longer than the neck one. Well on my affinity thats not true. In fact the neck pup is longer! 2mm I think. and the magnets on the A and E string on the neck pup are hardly alined with the strings! will new pick guard and pups fix this problem?

thanks alot! Will p

Will,

Not to depress you but I really think you should consider upgrading to an entirely different instrument. The Warmoth stuff fits outright Fenders and not Squier Affinitys. You will be doing plenty of extra drilling, trimming and routing to accommodate everything you've mentioned in the hope of making all that stuff fit.

The high mass bridge will have little or no effect; the neck MAY be top heavy and your intonation may be amiss too; the passive EMG(s) will not be dramatically any better than what you already have in there.

Ok I thought about it and yes the neck and maybe the bridge are bad ideas for this squier. But after I get 51 pbass I'll do some fairly simple good upgrades like the pickguard. Then later I'll buy a mum bass and update it. My dads a part time carpenter And the pickguard would come easily with his help. The reason I have faith in doing it on the affinity is all the rad stuff markbass did o his affinity.

its really gonna take a lot of work modding a Squier but yes markbass did pretty well on his affinity J's, but well, if the stuff aren't broken well just don't try to mess with it..
its really up to you... Squier's aint that bad stock though...

I'll keep the bass as long as I can and sense I will ithink it would be best to fix what I dislike about it( Which really isen't much). Plus I think it will add that costomized personalized sort of value! :)
