And it was Cliff Burton not Jaco, or Chris Squire, or Sir Paul who inspired me to get serious about learning to play the bass guitar. He is very missed.

nice cliff of metallica, mine's used to be flea, he was the one who inspired me to pick up the bass and before I was into guitars especially I liked Eric Johnson's playing.. now we play soul, funk and acid jazz.. my current favorites are Stuart Zender, Sting, and Duck Dunn.

I think its funny but to a certion extent you do mellow with age. While I will alway be a metal head at heart I have broaded my musical horizons a bit. Im a huge Steely Dan fan and I have really gotten into old Delta Blues. I love those walking basslines. In addition to all that I have "rediscovered" 70's hard rock and am just loving it.

70's? Black Sabbath's Geezer is well one of my personal favorites too though i mostly play NIB riff during sound checks :D
and also Jimmy Hendrix but sadly his career was damn short..

and speaking of blues, I find it really fun playing a supportive role and that jump swing, slow blues and sometimes exchange solos with the guitar.. sometimes I'm more drawn to the blues rather than chromatic jazz but acid jazz is a different thing..
