How about a CV Mustang or Musicmaster short scale bass? With all the P-bass and Jazz bass offerings that Squire has wouldn't a higher end shortscale bass be a nice option?

Mark,

Squier did make a short-scale MusicMaster bass. The Vista series Squiers, made in 97-98 had an 18 fret short-scale MusicMaster Bass in the style of the '60's MusicMaster Bass. It was alder w/ a maple neck and painted headstock.

The Squier Vista series were CIJ guitars; actually pretty nicely built. If you've seen a Squier Venus, Venus XII, early JagMaster or a Super-Sonic, these were all in the same series as the Vista MusicMaster Bass.

Sometimes you'll see them on eBay, but they usually don't last long. I'm trying to complete my collection of Vista series Squiers and I don't have the MusicMaster Bass yet, so you better beat me! Good luck!

Rick

Actually I do remember the Vista series. I should have clarified my earlier post and mentioned them as well. Cool basses. I would like to see them revieved in say the CV series.

I tried a Bronco Bass out today. I've been looking for a shortscale bass for my wife to learn on. She is always welcome to use my two bass a Precision and Jazz but she always complains that they are so big for her stature hence me looking for a shortscale bass. The Bronco for what it is isnt a half bad little bass. Of course as soon as I buy one Squire will use my idea for CV Mustang or Musicmaster reissue LOL. I can dream anyway.

I would assume that if Squier released a more expensive short scale bass, other than the Bronco bass, it would do well. Something in the Classic Vibe series or VM series maybe.
