It's a very good idea. I played one and it was the nicest feeling squier I have played. They have definitely upped their game recently.

I saw and played the squier fretless... after I purchased a MIM fretless jazz bass. I honestly wish I had waited, because I felt that the squier was just as good as the MIM fretless jass bass....

I think it was made as well as the fender...

The Squier Vint Mod basses are a blast.

The only squiers i would play are the vintage modified series, they look good and should be perfect for a solid practice bass

I liked it so much when I tried it out, I have one on order. I love the way it sounds and the way it plays. Just like a $1200 Jazz bass. For something that is crafted in Indonesia, I can't believe how good this bass is - especially for the price.

I got one about 6 months ago. Having always played guitar, I got the urge to mess around with a bass. I didn't want to spend alot of money on something I wasn't too sure about. Went to the local GC's and tried a few different types at the $400 range. Then online I saw the VM 70's Jazz and thought...That's sweet! I took the chance, ordered online...It's a great looking bass. Solidly built with no blemishes. Pickup's are not half bad. After a truss rod adjustment, bridge height adjustment and some new strings...It plays better than any of the $400 basses I've tried. Two things to note...The neck is quite thin and this bass is heavy.

Looks decent and from all accounts should play well.
First thing I did on my squier was change out the pups.

I just got a squier 70s Vintage modified jazz bass and I couldnt be happier. Ive been playing for 4 years, 3 with lessons. I continue to take them to make my playing more skilled. Im one of his more advanced students and he asked me to play lead guitar and bass for him during one of the guitar recitals. My axes of choice? Squier Jazz Bass and Fender Stratocaster. :D

Mine are the Power Jazz Bass Special and the 70's VM. The only thing wrong on the Squier is the bridge adjustment. It has to be tuned, every VM I played with has a diff't bridge adjustment from the factory.Stays in tune well after adjustment tho. The Fender I have never had issues staying in tune.
