I have this bad buzz on the A string of my fretless. I was thinking of puting a Bad $@! II bridge on it. Any ideas? Thanks

I think you may have to redrill some of the holes, but badass bridges are a heck of an improvement.

I installed one on my Vintage Modified Fretless Squier and it's a drop in replacement (no drilling required)

I later installed a White Pearl 4-Ply pickguard and standard J bass knobs (Vintage Modified Fretless Squier)

I noticed more Punch and sustain....

Thanks I'll look into it and see what needs to be done. Youve all been a big help.

That droped right it? I wonder if it'll work for my Squier p-bass then? That would rock. :D

I recently bought a used 2006 VM fretless, and it has a buzz on the A string around the 3rd and 4th fretlines. It could be eliminated by jacking up the action or relief, but that diminished the mwaah tones I want from a fretless. I took it to an expert bass-maker, who tried to level that area of the fingerboard, but he wound up jacking up the action and relief. I noticed the nut slots are cut real deep in mine--the strings lie fully in the slots with none of the string higher than the top surface of the nut-- is this stock?

Unless the problem is from the nut slot being too deep, I'm guessing it's some kind of sympathetic vibration, maybe the truss rod getting rattled? Fortunately, if I don't pluck too hard, the noise isn't amplified enough to be troublesome, especially in a mix with other instruments.

Would anyone think a Badass bridge would help with this problem?

Hi,
The buzz on your fretless could be caused by a number of things: incorrect truss rod adjustment. fret the G string where the first fret would be with one hand and fret the highest fret on the G string with the other hand and you should see a small amount of day light under the string in the middle of these two points, do the same on the E string just to be safe. If this is ok, then take a look under your strings in the areas affected and look for channels of excessive wear. If there are pronounced grooves (round wound strings cause this faster than flats), your finger board may need a scrape. Take it to a trusted repairman.

If your present bridge is standard and in good condition, a B£dass will not help. I would advised that you get this problem sorted before making any changes to your bass.

Hope this helps
