rotosound all the way! you only have to see who uses them to not agree with my choice.

saying that, i only play with them as i buzz of the sound and feel they give me as a walking bassist: so i dont wear the skin off my fingers after a few ours of playing- pretty sure most bassists who walk understand this problem.

I have been using Rotosound Swing Bass since '82. Th tone and super bright piano like tone are unrivaled.Being a big John Entwistle fan I really wanted that thunderous tone.I was also one of the "beta" testers for Dean Markley Blue Steels and I loved the brilliance and harmonic presence. However after the 2nd yr or so I began to notice an inconsistent tone from set to set so I went back to the Swing Bass. I also use DR Black Beauties on my Ovation Acoustic and have used Red Devils and Peacock Blues on my BTB and a Carlo Robelli 8 string as well.Love the tone and lifespan of the DRs but will more than likely stick to the Rotos for my VM Jazz fretless.

I think I've found the strings I've always wanted. I'm now using DR Black Beauties on my 70's Jazz Classic. It's the best and cleanest sound I've ever had.

these are what I'm putting on my jazz bass, not only do they look killer, but they have such a nice feel!

I've had the same ones for a long time and I loved them. Then I - accidentally - put on some Warwick stainless steel strings and couldn't bear their tone so I switched back to hybrids, this time to D'Addario strings and I've been using that set for 2 months now. However, after three hours of rehearsing today my fingers hurt so bad I could cry out loud.

Shouldn't the strings after 2 months of moderate use be 'warmed up' enough not to rip the last bit of skin off one's finger? What do you think?
