can you go into more detail on how you tinted the neck to mkae it yellowish?? i would like to do it on my MIM jazz bass, i dont like the really white wood. also, how do you get the shine off the finish? how do you give it that matte/dull look?

nacho conde :) , I applied the brown shoe wax using a piece of cloth then let dry for at least 20 min. then wipe it off, I did the process about 3x... (I prefer removing all the parts, tuners, strings, string guide and the body)
Image

about the body I sanded it with sandpaper to get rid of the shine (with the pickguard still installed), then after that I wet sanded it again with a super fine sandpaper to reduce the swirls marks, then last step is I put all the parts back, thumbrest, bridge, pickups then buffed around the parts with rubbing compound. This technique will make it look more shinny on the areas where it has more skin contact (from the players forearms, palm, and fingers), and make the areas without skin contact more dull and flat.

Image
Plus the dings, scratches and stains..

I replaced the pickups with seymour duncan antiquity
The pickups sounded old (vintage) specially the bridge pickups, it sounded bad and dead.. but that's how it is to make it a more accurate relic.....

Nacho, I'm doing another tinting job on my Squier Affinity J Bass

yes, I applied the wax over the squier decal
Image

make sure to apply the wax all-over
Image

after half an hour (20-30min.) The wax is ready to be wiped off with a clean dry cloth
Image

the difference is yours to see!!

before and after: Oh-Yeahhh!

Image

same bass (I replaced the white pickguard)
Image

(I have no plans modifying this to a worn-aged-relic look. I like this new as is...)
Image
I replaced the control plate to a 62' spec. stacked knobs.

I was checking it, and I did it to my VM J Bass, now it looks better. Little bit darker, I forgot and left the wax for 1 hour and 1/2 it was really hard to take it off but finally I did it and it worked perfect.

Nice...
