On the 23rd of this month i am buying back the first bass that my girlfriend bought me,a Korean made Squier Precision.I am going to spend some money on it to try and get it to sound closer to an American Standard Precision.

I want to put Fender Standard pickups on this bass,i know that body wood will affect the sound, but will this get me closer to that sound. Also what type of volume & tone pots are on the American Standard and will changing these help.

I am looking forward to owning this again as it was a nice bass to play, plus it has sentimental value to me.

OK, those were quite good in their own right. Pots: get some 250K CTS or similar; Allparts do them, or any reasonable guitar store will likely stock them. Replace the jack also, with a Switchcraft, same store.
There are many pickups to choose from, from many makers, which will give you a good P-bass sound. Fender's own Original 62s, Seymour Duncun, Fralin, Lollar, laods of 'em. If you're on the UK side of the pond, add in Bare Knuckle and Wizard.

I agree the MIK were quite good basses, especially the 89-93 models. I would go for the Vintage Fender Pickups, and I agree on the pots and switch........Great Bass :D :D :D
