Hello all. I wanted to introduce myself. I am 37. I have always loved all types of music but never picked up an instrument until recently. I groove mostly on songs that have prominent bass and/or rhythm and decided in 1997, after listening to a Yanni composition(The Rain Must Fall) that had a solo bass performance that blew my mind, that the bass was for me. Well, eleven years later I finally made the time and set aside the money to start learning. I picked up a "Stop Dreaming Start Playing" bass kit last week. Also, i decided long ago that if a Fender is good enough for Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn, it's good enough for me. Maybe someday I'll actually own a true Fender but for now the Squire is as close as I'll get.

That's a cool story actually. I am in a similar situation where I tried to play some instruments but I didnt really get into seriously playing until about a year ago at 32. My Squier has served me well and that package is an excellent starting point. Gives you everything you need to get started at a price that is actually affordable.

Welcome to the Forum!

Welcome.
I started learning when i was 38 so dont think your the only one.
Im now just shy off 40 and loving every minute of it.
I bought myself my first fender earlier this year(MIM Precision) and i love it to bits, i;ve got my eye on a squire vintage modified which i'm hoping to get in the next 4 weeks.
There is a bass im definatly getting next week but seeing as this is a fender forum i wont mention its name (but we all know what it is).

I don't know what it is, what is it? C'mon, you're teasing us now. We all have had our different brands of guitars here. Heck, my dream bass is still a Carvin Icon series. Let us know what it is bigbite.

I do too, I've strayed and always ended up coming back to Fender. If I have the money, I'd go with the Icon (Carvin). Something about your own custom bass...Yeah, we can dream.

I had two Carvin six stringers a fretted and a fretless . The fretted was ok but the fretless was awsome .I sold the fretted to buy the 50th anniversary Jazz and the other sold it to a friend . You can also see my mexican Pbass with SD quarter pounder pickups(I traded it for a late 60's jazz which later traded for the Steinberger) . I also had a 5 string Rick bass .
