I am no expert on Squiers especially 15 year old Crafted in China Squiers. Send an email to Fender's Consumer Relations, and ask for 'all information'. Include your serial number. They should be able to pull up the build sheet for your bass.

Chances are your bass is agathis as that is a type of Asian pine. It most certainly wouldn't be alder or ash. The neck will be a softer Asian maple, and yours looks to have a rosewood fretboard, but there are ways to stain lessor woods to look like rosewood. Your body color sure looks like candy apple red although it might be called by some other name. Good Luck!
