Hi guys.

I know that this is very common question but I've tried to avoid it.
After searching in different ways I still can't decode the serial number from a PB.

The S/N is: CY0071057

My first thought was that it is a Squier Crafted in China, but than I got confused because this is a 2 letters and a 7 number when it should be an 8 number code.

I'd like to share some photos but I don't know how to do it.

Can you please share your thoughts?
Thanks

To post photos on the site, you need a site like Imgur (which is what I use,) and you take the link they give you with the pic and paste it between this: which is the IMG link in the message options. I've only found a page on the site that explains the dating with the serial numbers with USA, Mexico, Korea, and Indonesia models. I didn't find anything with the Chinese models. I'm not sure if it's the same, or not. Perhaps it's the same?

I read that as C for China, Y for Yako, 00 for 2000(ish), the rest is the individual serial number.
But a serial number alone doesn't tell much, so if you need help on fake/legit, post pics - instructions below.

As a personal opinion, Fender support pages is missing the Chinese serial page because they just don't know what was made and when. Even the US database isn't complete, Mexican even less. India..?
The present Japanese/Korean pages have errors, are missing info and seem to get corrected by web info, so they threw in the towel with China/Taiwan.

Pic posting on the forum:
Quote:
First you need to upload your pics to the internet. Use a pic hosting site (imgur, imgbb or such - avoid photobucket) or some common web framework like e.g. facebook, googlephotos - whatever you're familiar with.
The important thing is that the web site provides you with a pic address - that's the one starting with 'http' or 'https' and ending in '.jpg' .

Copy the pic address, and use the IMG-command (visible when you write a message) on the forum.

Preview your post so everything is OK.

Thanks for your feedback.

In fact this isn't easy to decode. I asked Fender for help and they can't tell it either.

Like "jmattis" said, their databases aren't complete and in this cases it's really hard to get any reliable info.

But, in any case, I'm sharing some pics. Maybe someone has a clue about it.
