I wanna get one Squire 70's Modified Jazz Bass.
But it sounds little light. so wanna change some, too.

do you have any idea, how to make it sound like 70's ? U know... little moggy and clear also. Kinda complicate to describe the sound.
Just like Fender 75 Reissue bass.

Share your secret tips to change the Bass Tone. ^^;

Fender Pups would be a good place to start! Their RIs are nice.

Lindy Fralin and Nordstrand also offer much more ballsy/vintage type jazz pups :)

If the VM sounds a little light to you, then getting Fender repalcement pup wouldn't help. The Duncan Designed pups are suppose to sound like the '70s Jazz Bass sound.

maybe you could buy the actual duncan pups that are supposed to be the duncan designed, or just get some quarter pounder, they make you tone really thick but i doubt that what i will call a vintage tone

I think because EMGs won't give him that '75 bass sound he's looking for Jlarocho. OP, the sound you have aren't just from the pickups btw, a lot to do with your bass designed to sound a certain way, also your amp. I have different setting for my basses using the same amp to sound as close as possible to each other due to I like "my" sound.

You are right concerning the design of the bass . 70's jazz basses have the bridge pickup closer to the bridge . And that gives them a brigter sound .

You can't change the distance between the pickup and the bridge because that changes the scale too . And doing that will make your bass not play in tune .

I just consider, expand the pickup hole or..... make new one. haha.
Well, that will look ridiculous, though. I know. hm.....
So many ideas happen to me.. and my hands. haha.

Thank you.

how does moving the pup chagnes intonation? moving the bridge would mess intonation but moving the pup would just change the sound

I've moved my pickups around, it is a pain to get it right. It's easier to play with the eq.

What's the Distance between End of Bridge and Pickup Core?
I don't think it' s remarkably different from Fender's.
