I could be wrong, but I imagine any of the standard Fender/Squier tuners should work for that bass. They're usually a universal fit.

Fenders don't fit. Squiers that do fit are hard to find. I have read on the internet about 70's style tuners that might fit, but only speculations so far. Sadly Fender have informed that they don't have spare parts for their Squier models, or something along those lines.

Oh, OK. Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure there has to be something that would work, since those basses were mass produced.

Came across that thread myself. Neither fit actually. The Matt Freeman mounting holes have verticaly a distance of 18mm on the left and 21mm on the right side and 35.5mm from top left to top right, same for the bottom.

Update: These Schaller tuners https://www.thomann.de/de/schaller_bmlc.htm seem to be right. Ordered them today, will post results after test fitting.

That's good to know. 8) Now you got me wondering, since I have a Squier Jazz Bass, if something ever happened to where I'd need to replace those tuners, I'd also have a problem getting replacements, or is that something specific to your model bass?

Turns out most Asian made Squiers deal with the same problem, according to my research for the last 2 weeks. Anyhow keys are in place, the stems are 1cm too short to call them perfect, but i will leave them be for now. Mounting holes align 100%, tuner ferrules are 1mm smaller than my measured 17,4mm's so i used some teflon tape around the ferrules and that sorted it. Photos follow.

Just checking this one out; have you asked Fender's customer support if they have the parts list/service diagram for the Freeman bass? They have a lot more of those than are published (this also as a hint for PaulLF's concerns - a part number + possibly the manufacturer often help with finding replacements).

Anyways, the Schallers look good - and IMHO, those are an upgrade from any Ping/Cort/whatever the originals were.

I haven't asked because i didn't know that stuff like this exist for the signature models, and i reckon the persons that reply e-mails don't know that either. Anyhow, at least i got me a decent set of tuners, though i wanted to instal a set of Fenders. Oh well..
