Hi,

Looking for the correct pickguard for an 82 MIJ Squier P Bass. Current one is warped and broken. It has 10 holes but I am willing to buy a 13 hole pickguard and drill new holes.

Anyone know what I can buy and where? Preferably within EU.

Thanks.

I know less about basses than guitars, so proceed with caution...

But your best option might be to get a custom made pickguard. Google search 'custom made pickguards europe' brings a few answers to begin with, plus many guitar techs/luthiers also make pg's.

WDMusic/UK has some 10-hole pg's in their Precision Bass 50s Road Worn Series

And I found two Fender part numbers for gold anodized pg's; 0095634000 in AmOriginal 50s & AVRI '58 models (with thumb rest holes) and 0019487400 in Road Worn 50s model. The latter is on the menu of some European web shops, but the shops are totally unknown to me.

I have no idea how well any of the above fits...

Your bass should be a JV-serial, probably the PB-57 model? Keep the original pickguard safely stored. It has value, even if it's broken, should you ever sell the bass.

BTW, if the above helps in any way, a couple of pics would be a nice way to thank.

It does have a JV serial number. As for having a custom pickguard made, it is a good suggestion, but probably more than I am willing to spend on this bass. Thanks again.
