The vintage modified P bass costs a fair amount less than the vintage modified J bass. Why? Is the J bass significantly better?

The J bass is just more like the big brother of the p bass, when Fender introduced the Jazz Bass in 1960 it was on the Deluxe line. I have a Squier Vintage fretless bass and I used it to test different kinds of pickups (for sound test) and for customization.. here how it looks like with a badass II

and here's how it looks like after replacing the neck with a crafted in Japan 60's block inlays neck:

and lastly after customizing it into a relic:

you know what the say about relics... it's either you like 'em or you don't :D

Check out how this customized Squier bass sounds like with the 60's fender pickups:

Hi i was wondering what squier bass is good for a guitar player interested in playing a bass
:?

Standard Jazz bass, it has a narrow string spacing by the nut, perfect for guitar players interested in playing the bass, because the closer string spacing makes it more easier and more comfortable to play, that's what actually happened in the 60's when fender came out with jazz bass.. a lot of guitar players switched from guitar to jazz bass due to its fast action neck :D

I play guitar, and screw around with bass. The jazz bass has a nicer neck, but I HATE the way they sound. I bought an affinity P bass,it was cheap. Sounds OK-better now that is has flatwounds on it.Pretty feedback resistant even at crazy loud levels. The action is set way too high when you get em off the rack,so you'll have to spend a little time setting it up.

Get out there and play every one you can get your hands on. No two guitars are the same and I've found that especially with Squiers (I have two, a MB5 and a 70's Vintage Jazz Bass). I really am happy with my Jazz but, you'll know the right one when you find it.

Good luck.

I have a P-Bass Special, and I have to say, it sounds simply awesome. I haven't played a Fender but so far I've found the sound of my Squier outstanding.

It's great enough, so I don't have to think about saving up for a Fender but for a Squier Vint. Mod. P. :)

Any of the vintage modified series are very nice basses. I'd go the J bass way though!
