Just purchased a used Squier Bass. The only ID is the following number - IC011109562 and a statement "Made in Indonesia". I was trying to learn what the 3 controls were for and if there is an owners manual available. Also it would be nice to know the age of the instrument. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Squier, I don't remember how I decode my serial #, but I remember I - Indonesia, C - Cort Guitar facility, 01 - I think it's when it was built. I don't remember when it changed to Crafted In Indonesia from Made in Indonesia either.

With 3 knobs, I'm assuming you have a Jazz, so the knobs would be; starting from closest to the neck: volume, volume, tone.

You can try www.squier.com for the manual.

Good luck.

It may make a difference in the identification of the bass. The 3 knobs are not inline. They are positioned in a triangle, with the middle knob out away from the strings.

Thanks for the leads and information. I am checking out www.squier.com now.

Not so sure about Squiers, but my '87 (MIJ Fender) has the triangle set up for the knobs, override toggle for the pups and slap switch. Originally, the Volume (master) - top, bottom - bass/treble, rear - tone, now top is the p pup, bottom is the j pup, rear is the tone, toggle still the override pup switch, slap switch disconnected. This was done when the EMGs were installed, since EMG have their own knobs that come with - have to use them, it's diff't size and preset that way from EMG.

Sorry for the delay. I have a picture of my bass but am unsure of the process to get it posted. I don't have a separate website to use for the image and apparently one cannot post an image directly to the forum. Any suggestions?

upload it there, use one of the links it gives you to post it here. It's pretty self explanatory once you upload it tells you what you can do with it :)
