You're welcome -- sorry Sweetwater didn't have what you were looking for in stock. Sometimes it's better to wait for them to get it -- may take a week or two but on a bass you'll have for years you want to make sure it's right from the get go.

As for ebonol fretboards, I've got that on my Squier VM fretless jazz and it's okay. I don't know how it would sound on a fretted bass but on the fretless it works just fine.

As for this particular bass in general, I've played one and it's just not my style, but the reviews I've read have all been positive so if this is your thing (active electronics in a fiver for slap bass technique) I don't see any downside, especially for the price.

Hey MM, not to worry, Chuck @ Bass Emporium told me his pet peeve is when buying a guitar online, the box is never opened. So he's making sure that the bass will be set up before being sent.

As far as the ebonol, it sounds like it's suppose to be long lasting as ebony, so it shouldn't be a problem, fretted or not.

Again, thanks for all the suggestion and input from you Mastermold.

Cool!

Another place that I've heard good things about (but not ordered personally from) is www.theperfectbass.com. Seems like the guys at talkbass.com like them.

Sweetwater is great, best online service I've ever received. I've ordered two basses there through this guy and he takes really good care of me:

OK, the bass got here tonight. I will post pix soon. I like it. I didn't know how I'd like the ebonol fb, but I like it. Feels like ebony, but smoother...I guess since it's a synthethic material. I haven't powered either. My wife is sleeping, but I'll plug it in tonight after she leaves.

Hello everyone,
Enjoyed your banter and wanted to join in with photo of my latest addition.
However, images are not uploadable.
It is a Squire Standard P Bass Special V five string in black with maple and rosewood neck/fingerboard.
Mine does not necessarily rate high compared to what you have but hopefully it will do what I want. :D Phraser[/img]

That sounds like a nice bass to me. I play the P-Bass Special 4 string. I really like it!
