Besides hardware; what is the real difference between these two Jazz Basses?

This one is a MIM in my opinion. From 2015 Fender Frontline, here on forum

Opinion? Nah....it's a fact. But the point here is that they are two very similar basses (well, they are both Jazz Basses after all) with the MIM having a slight edge in terms of hardware. But even at that, I feel that the Affinity can hold its own against the MIM Standard model.

For one, the labor costs are higher as are some of the parts. I can't vouch for the playability of one vs. the other though. Interestingly, this guy on YouTube did a comparison between the Affinity Jazz V and the Vintage Modified 70's Jazz V and he actually preferred the tone of the Affinity! He also said that there was no major differences in playability between the two but as always.......go with the one that feels and sounds best to you.

Where the labour cost more, most companies use better parts.
