Anyone out there upgrade the pickups on their 70s Classic Vibe P-Bass? If so, what did you put in there?

I just noticed your post. It's very slow down here on the Squier Bass sub-forum. If you want to keep true Fender Precision tone, you'll want to use a genuine Fender P-Bass split pickups. I really love the tone that the '63 set offers, but any of these would work fine.

What is wrong with the way it sounds now? What do you want it to sound like? Have a favorite famous p-bass player's tone in mind?

Two aftermarket split pickups that are getting a lot of good word-of-mouth comments are: Steve Harris signature by Seymour Duncan, and the Geezer Butler p'up by EMG. The Geezer comes with new volume and tone pots.

If you are going to upgrade your pickups, you would really want to upgrade your entire electronics package plus shielding. It's worth doing it all at once rather than piecemeal.
