Hello all, I'm brand new here and a new Squier Strat owner. I've been a Gibson/Epi guy until now. I still have my Epi LP Standard, but I wanted a strat and got this one nice n cheap.

I had a few quick questions for you all...

1. How can I tell what model strat I have? My headstock says Squier Strat by Fender and on the top it says Affinity Series. On the back there is an IC######## number says made in Indonesia. I'm asking because I want to DL the owner's manual & wiring diagram from the website and want to make sure I get the right one.

2. When buying replacement parts or upgrades, can I buy just like I'm buying for a Fender strat or are there any differences?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, there is a wealth of information in the posts throughout this forum. Someone just recently recommended customer care's e-mail address which can be found under the support above or the Squier web site. I've also found a lot of info on Google and Wikipedia.

As you will soon find out Squiers are made in a lot of different places and will come in a lot of different dimensions which they do not share with the standard strat. So parts will not fit from one guitar to another. The best thing to do is measure and look around for a similar part but more than likely you will have to modify your guitar to make the parts fit.

The pickup wiring is standard for all low priced strats with single coils. If you get into humbuckers then you will have to go by the manufacturers recommendation.

Good luck with your guitar and I'm sure there will be other posts with specific recommendations soon.
