Hello folks, it's been way to long since I've been on the forums. Anyways, not really a true fender strat mod but a mod nonetheless. My nephew recently abandoned his squire mini strat I bought for him. Ive thought I could do some tinkering with it to get him back into playing.Such as the technical changes I am unsure of. Like I'm wanting to know if it's possible to use a standard guitar neck on these? Does this use a standard pickgaurd? And is it possible to use a stets bar tremolo (strat hardtail). Please let me know so I can make arrangements. If anybody else has some feedback too if you are a squire mini owner id like to hear anything at all. Thanks and all the best!!

You write about non standard Stratocaster .

You ask if you can put a standard neck , you mean Fender neck or ..... ?

No photos of your guitar, no brand ,Is it a high quality copy or cheap one nothing :(

How can we help you ?

You probably need to do some woodwork on guitar / neck . The neck may cost more than the guitar value .

This thread might help, went through most of the questions you could encounter including intoation issues.

http://www.squier-talk.com/forum/squier ... -body.html

I own a few Minis, I quite like them and there is some variety in parts used depending on how old it is. I found the older Minis 99-02 were built a lot better then current ones so doing a lot of messing about wasn't that important. A proper setup makes the biggest difference!

On new Minis most could use a setup of the tuners and possibly a pickup swap to something a bit cleaner but there is a point when this might become uneconomical since a used Vintage Modified Squier might come in around the same cost as a number of upgrades.

The other question would be why he quit....

I've tinkered on a few Strat's :) You could easily put 40 hours into this w/o getting benefit if he's still not pleased enough to want to play it... The dollars are not bad, but the fitting time is not insignificant

What was the reason he put it down?

I have a hybrid Mini that has a full scale Bullet Strat neck on it. I bought the loaded Squier Mini body and the Bullet neck from separate sellers on Ebay.

It is a bolt-together proposition. No intonation issues at all. Here it is:

And here's a pic showing a size comparison with a 1982 Fender Strat:

I put together this particular Partscaster because I like the combination of a full scale neck and a smaller than normal body. This is one of my favorites.

I'm considering further mods, such as a different pickguard (the Squier pickguard is not the same as a full-sized Strat's), an upgraded nut and higher ratio tuners. The Squier Mini pickups are pretty good (I tend to stay on the neck pickup most of the time).
