Hi guys! Do any of you know what on earth this guitar could be?? I got it in a swap, it sounds great too. The previous owner assures me it was a squier semi-hollow telecaster but someone sadly sanded down the headstock to put a fender logo on it and i have no serial numbers (i havent checked in the body cavities yet as i only got it last night). It has a set neck and the body colour continues all the way up the back of the neck and stops on the back of the headstock. It has an unusual humbucker that reminds me of a carbonita pickup but has a G engraved into it. Ive not seen a pickguard like this so id imagine it was a later addition to the guitar.

Any help would be fantastic! Feel free to ask any questions you want and ill do my best to answer!

That G-logoed pickup is a Gretsch HiLo'Tron, Google will give you more on that.

The guitar... I'll take a raincheck till you have the time to see "under the hood", and maybe get some idea of how old the guitar is supposed to be, country of origin, possible stamps or labels etc.
There used to be a Squier "Master Series" or "Masterbuilt" Tele with similar 2Vol/2Tone knob construction and placement, but my fading memory says they all were HH and Adjustomatic bridges...
Maybe that neck pup has shrunk from humbucker to single coil...

A few things stick out to me. a 22 fret Vintage Style neck, ie truss rod adjustment in heel. The heel of the neck is very square. A thinline with 2 tone 2 Volume controls and switching like a Deluxe or Custom. The guitar might be very nice but I really doubt it is a Squire by Fender. It's just an odd combination of styles.
