You know...if you really look at what you're getting for the price...

EDIT: In fact....Here are some 3rd party reviews of these guitars...

epinions review of the hot rails stratocaster:

harmonycentral review of the quilt top strat...(beautiful guitar, BTW)

Harmony Central also has a review of the J-bass

Same Day music review...

I don't think Squier's going to be able to be knocked here indefinitely.

It's getting built right now...and rather well...

I am beginning to believe (seriously) that a Squire Deluxe model (I really like that quilted top) is arguably a better guitar for the price vs. a Fender that was made in Mexico. It certainly has more bells and whistles...

I gotta say, that after really looking at the MIM Standard Strat and the Squier Standard Special Edition I just bought, I feel the Squier got me more for the money. Mine is the Cherry Sunburst with the minty pickguard and I'm really digging it.

That's awesome. I have to admit that I'm sort of becoming warmer and warmer to Squier for a future purchase. (I sort of went out of my way to criticize the brand...not for their product, but marketing approach.)

But all I can say is that lately, Squier is really making some major moves to improve its image. These guitars are awesome, and I'm excited about their vintage models that will eventually hit the market.

Also, as a leftie, I feel like if I buy a Squier, replace the nut and tweak the pots and pickups (another reason to get into one...I like playing around with my guitars ala repairing and upgrades)...I'm going to get a better deal.

Fender does have some really, really nice pickups that would probably make one of these guitars sing.

(Plus...jumbo frets? Awesome!)

One thing that has REALLY struck me about the reviews...although there were some mixed thoughts about some of the hardware, it was sort of a universal nod towards action and feel.....and those are things which sort of stay with the guitar no matter how much hardware or work you dump into it.

(Plus, I've tried out 2 models so far....a black one in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and another in Lincoln, Nebraska. Each time....great setup.)

So yup...sold on Deluxe. I guess my biggest issue is whether or not I'm going to get into sunburst or that cream color/olympic white.

:D

I definitely gotta give Fender/Squier a nod for setup. I purchased my Jagmaster and Standard Strat SE at Guitar Center. Although I had to tune them, they both played great! And I know guys at Guitar Center that have told me that the guitars are just unboxed and placed on the sales floor.

I think they are both quality instruments. The finishing touches are a little nicer on the MIM but most guitar stores will fix that stuff up when they set them up.
