Hi Guys, I am new to the forum and just picked up my second Strat today, it is a squier affinity with a very strange serial number:
CY120902201
I bought the guitar brand new from L&M but Wikipedia states it was built in the 90's.
Someone please enlighten me? Thanks.

What you have here is a 2012 Chinese made Squier, that was specifically made in Yako (Taiwan).

Ok, thanks! Another question is how are these in the long run? For quality? Thanks!

It actually depends on a variety of factors. It depends on which factory it was made and there are also a couple more things involved. Chinese Squiers are pretty much "hit and miss", to be honest. Some of them can be quite decent, while others will turn out to be complete crap.

I own a "Starcaster by Fender S2 Stratocaster" which was MIC. I've had it for about 4 years now and it has never ever let me down. While it's true that I've modified it in more ways than one now, it was pretty decent in stock condition as well. However, I've seen people sharing their awful experiences with such guitars on the ultimate guitar forums.

I believe this answers your second question. Peace!
