Hi all

I am wondering if there is a difference between a Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom (MN) and a Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom?

LINKS:
http://www.bigmusicshop.com.au/squier-v ... ck-mn.html
http://www.bigmusicshop.com.au/squier-v ... black.html

There is a $70 difference, so I`m wondering what the price increase is for.

Thanks,
Jeff

Maybe the pickups. These is a description of them on the second ad but not the first.

I really suspect that the lower priced one is a Squire Telecaster Custom But not a vintage modified. They had two humbucker's like the deluxe but not the strat neck. This is a older guitar and they reflect the $70 price difference. They had a Custom II that had P-90's those can still be found. I think the build quality is a lot better on the new VM's. Bottom line I think it's the wrong picture and description on the cheaper guitar. The No Description bothers me too. I would be calling to confirm before ordering.

Another shop also sells the "MN" (doesnt depict the MN, but has the same price point).

"MN" designates maple neck I don't think that is an actual description from Squire, these guitars are only offered with a maple neck.

So one has a Maple Neck, the other doesn`t?

No. Both guitars have a maple neck. Fender/Squire usually only use the "MN" or "RW" when it is available in both Maple and Rosewood. It is part of the Part #. Many Squire's are not available in Both. I just looked at the squire site and the cheaper guitar with no description is the Original VM custom with 2 Humbucker's like a Fender Tele Deluxe. The other one is like the Fender Custom this is the newer guitar and built in a different plant. With higher grade components. hence the higher price. Check the link below. The cheaper is a Tele Custom versus a Telecaster Custom.
