Hi. I have a Showmaster, which had a fret dress about a year ago, and it has been great since. But a week ago, i decided to give it a good clean, which involved me unscrewing the neck to wipe out the neck well. I slackened the strings so i could do this, then tuned them back up. Since this it has played out of tune. The heavy E is ok open, but flat when you get to say the A on the fifth. The B string is also problematic, sounding ok on a D major, but then sharp when you play an A major. Why is it doing this? Oh, and i have changed the strings in the hope it would fix it but to no avail. Any help would be great. Thanks.

That's what happened - the guitar now is messed up and needs a good setup.
I'd strongly recommend you take it to a luthier for that.

But why would that happen just by slackening the strings for a couple of minutes? That's the part i'm confused about.

It sounds like the intonation was thrown off by whatever you did. If you don't know how to intonate, take it to a tech.

But it's the kind of thing that you should learn to do yourself. It's not that difficult. Just requires a tuner and a small screwdriver to adjust the position of the saddles.
