Greetings,

In the 40 years that i have played, I have never learned how to properly or effectively set up a 6 point trem. When I say effectively, I mean so that it stays in tune after using it. I am not into dive bombing, but when I see David Gilmour or Jeff Beck use the trem bar, I always ask myself how in the heck is that set up... I can never get mine like this, nor can anyone I have taken my guitars to.

Is there a definitive setup guide to set up a Squier Strat 6 Point Trem?

If you could post a link to detailed instructions or a detailed video tutorial, I would forever appreciate it.

Thanks,

TJ

I highly recommend getting a Tusq XL nut for your Strat. It is impregnated with teflon, which is hundreds of times more slippery than graphite.

That alone will help a lot with tuning stability on your Strat. You might also look into roller string trees.

The Jeff Beck Signature has a roller nut.

I'm also a fan of Graph Tech saddles, which again, have the teflon.

.

I won't put any money on a Squier .

For the nut I 'll use petroleum gelly with graphite . If tjnugent like the way is tremolo work after set up he could invest in a nut

The Tusq XL nut costs $8 and is a nice improvement for a Squier. I've put them on all 5 of my Squier Strats.

If you can do the work yoursef why not, it is cheap . Not many people want or have the skill to put a new nut .

Luthier cost $60 I heard . Half price of a Squier

You're kidding, right? Putting in a new nut is simple. Very simple.

Like I said, I've put them in all my Strats. No problem. And I am FAR from being a luthier.

No I'm not kiding , I read many guitar forum since many years . Myself I do almost anything on guitar and amps. Most guitar player do not even make easier job than nut replacement on their guitar

Wait the answer from tjnugent

Why not do a survey ?

1- How many people have done a nut replacement ?

2- How many know how to AND will do the job ?
