in the future, you'd probably forget this, but try upgrading to some texas sp., 57/62 pickups or some really good pickups, but if you're sick of the hum, get dimarzio area 61s or '67s, i've geard good things about them and the best part is, it cancels hum better than a lot of humbuckers! They also have better clarity than (sorry, fender) vintage noiseless pickups at high frets.

Good luck and enjoy your soon-to-be bullet

as a side note, if you don't know what hum is, it's when single coil pickups pick up other things that disturb the magnetic field around them besides the strings... i.e. fluorescent lights, cell phones in use may affect hum, ghosts :D but its natural with a true single coil, and some people prefer it.

well between Affinity and Bullet I prefer Bullet, but the thing is that I was talking to my father today and I kinda convinced him to give me some money and in the end I might get a Squier Standard Stratocaster! :D
we'll see!

the affinity has an alder body, different tuners, has a skunk stripe, it's also lighter than the bullet (my friend has an affinity and i picked his up, but i think mine's heavier[i have a bullet]). i saw one at sam ash; sunburst w/maple, it was an affinity. i am starting to think i shoulda got that one... it was too high up on the wall :) idk maybe its worth the 50 u.s. dollar difference.

I just got the Squier Affinity Telecaster, for $170 its a well made guitar and sounds good. The neck is good also, not like the ones on the $100 guitars. I would recommend the Tele, good guitar for the price.

The Affinity is definately a step above a Bullet. Neck, pickups, bridge. Worth the extra few bucks. But then for a few bucks more... Where does it end?

^exactly!
Well, either I'm gonna get the Bullet, or the Std Stratocaster -if I get the extra Euros from my dad!- as long as the Strat does not cost more than 250Euros!

IN general the strat and tele or specifically a std squier and vintage modified?

Well strats seem to have less midrange and more treble (?) not too sure.

Teles have more of a midrangey punch because of the thickness of wood and the type of pickups. Tele neck pickups are a little warmer than strats, but sound very similar. The bridge pickup really sets the tele apart from the strat. It is usually mounted on a steel plate, which means it is very bright and twangy. Also some teles have brass saddles, which increases twang. ANd teles have more SUUSTAAAIIN than the strats do. THis is due to a decreased magnetic field (fewer pickups), thickness of bodywood, strings through body held by ferrules. Teles sing, strats sting. Telecatsers happen to sound similar to electric lap steel guitars. SOrry if i sounded like a show off there!! But hey, i go here to learn stuff.
