Wondering if the stock pickups on this year were ceramic or Alnico? Also, any and all info would be greatly appreciated, in particular info on the neck. So far, the bridge definately needs to go, unless I can simply remove the trem block and replace it with a more hefty one. Looking at the size of the pots, these would also be replaced as they are probably the mini pots and are scratchy as well. Tuners, I think I will wait. Not bad for a "free" guitar... Gives me something to experiment with without worrying about ruining my deluxes

Thanks in advance.

Pop off the pickguard and see if the pickups have bar magnets on the bottom. Those would be ceramic magnets.

Took a pic of the pups. They don't appear to get ceramic. I removed the metal base plate and there was no magnet. Are these a very early version of Alnico?
Thanks

I don't know. Sorry.

That's a plywood body, right?

Yes, that is correct, and thanks for your responses. When I removed the metal base plate I noticed that the windings and the poles were already completely potted in "wax"? So if I wanted to remove the pickup covers, I would not be able to. In other words, it was mono-component. Hmmmm. Anyone else familiar with what they are? Curiosity has gotten the best of me.....
