Hello, I am new to electric guitars and have a question.
I purchased a Squier Affinity HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar Pack w/ 15G Amplifier.
My question is this, there is a lever that needs to be screwed into the guitar below the strings which I believe will allow me to change the tones by pushing it down.
Is there a stop when I screw it in so I cannot over tighten it?
Hopefully I explained it OK.
Second question is what is the spring in the tool kit for?
Thank you for any help. Next will be the adjustments on the guitar and amp but I'll muddle about till then.

You can't really over tighten it. Mostly because you only tighten it to the point it isn't loose. You need to be able to move it around, not lock it in place. The spring is probably the one that goes in the hole for the tremolo bar.

Thank you. I now see how it works, just tight enough so I can move it down a bit.
