never Had a Squier befor skipped straight to fender

so all I can tell ya buddy is that if you like it,
buy it

if you can at least play it in a local music store ask if you can hook it to an amp and play w/the effects, tone, etc.

8) I''ve got an Affinity black Strat w/hss, It 's Hot-- I've got an Indonesian natural Fat Strat, w/3 single coils, It Rocks!! I've got a Jagmaster, w/2 D.D. HBs, not only is it pretty, it Screams. I am a semi retired Pro workin Player, who used ta Sell th' "REAL" Fender's in th' '70s, [I owned a Guitar Shop, in Florida] and have personally owned,at some point in time, or now own, Every Gibson an Fender CLASSIC, includin' a '57 Strat. :D I can set up any Squire to be th' best it can be, and, I wouldn't wast my money on them, if they weren't worth every dollar spent!---In fact, I'm goin to Sam Ash, this P.M. ta get a Butterscotch Blond Affinity Tele, that I should have purchased, the 1st time I saw it. I platy thru a Digitech GNX4, an' a Digitech RP350 Processors. Any shortcomingg in any of the pups kin be Tweaked Out, with these units, but the Squires sound just fine to me, thru my Roland Cube 30, or my Peavey Black Widow Arttists ['70s vintage, tube power amp /solid state pre-amps] I have an Epiphone '65 Pathfinder 30, but, I haven't tried th' Squires on it,--Yet-- Probably sound so good it'l send me inta the Ozone!!

Squiers are amazing--I got an Affinity Tele-- which is "supposed" to be the inferiorof the Squire series, but don't tell ME that. They might have had some production problems in some years, but I LOVE this thing. (I also have a MIM.)

If you buy out of a box coming from the back room, open it and check the frets. My particular Tele was known to have protruding fret edges which WILL hurt your fingers, and which have to be filed down. I heard this complaint from many, but mine was just fine.

These are great guitars to mod, too. I swapped the pups for Seymour Duncan Vintage Rhythm (a buck) in the neck, and Seymour Hot Rails, another buck, at the bridge. I also went to a 3-saddle bridge, an option you Strat guys simply can't enjoy.

I went down to the neighborhood PS just to see what was hanging on the wall, they happen to have a Red one that was pretty beat up for a CY 04', took the thing down, checked it out, played it without the Amp. I'm like, ok.....looking around who's playing the joke on me. For a split second, I thought about it, even without the Amp, this thing rung clear as a bell. The owner was a bit peeved that he let a good one (I think a top o' the line Strat, that 76' LP, or that Gibson Firebird) go for next to nothing. He could barely concentrate on what I was asking about, so he played hardball on the asking price (which was really cheap), I just wasn't in the market for an Affinity. It's probably still there. He was asking under a C note.

I bought a used Indonesian-made 2002 Affinity Squire that I paid $89 for at my local music store last October. The selling price included a tuner, strap, and a gig bag. The guitar wouldn't stay in tune and sounded hollow so I changed the pickups to 57/62s and put Grovers on it. (The tuning problem was found to be the stock tuners were loose due to the tuners tightening nuts were loose). i've since played other Affinity squires that sounded and played much better than the one I have. Sure I might have spent money on a guitar that wasn't worth spending money on but she's where I want her sound-wise and playing-wise now. So go ahead and buy that Strat.
