Hello fellow Fender/Squier players,

Last week, I got the new Jazzmaster Vintage Modified guitar, in 3-color sunburst.

My first thoughts were: How can you make such a good guitar for so little money? In my opinion, the Classic Vibe series and the Vintage Modified series, are the best Squier's I've tried, since the 80's models. The wood even have light flames, which looks amazing. Better looking than the official product photos.

But I had a really bad experience with the stock bridge. The entire bridge began to lose height, and the same with the individual height adjustment for the strings. Which resulted in a detuned guitar and no action. As many adviced, I replaced the Jazzmaster bridge with a Mustang Bridge. So far it works much better, and the strings doesn't jump around, when bending the strings more than a note.

And then the tremolo: I have never used this, and probably won't in the future. So I always lock the tremolo on my Strats and Jazzmasters. But the sales people, who usually know their stuff, claimed it couldn't be done. The same said several people reviewing the guitar on Youtube (incl. guitar shops showing off the guitar). After I opened the whole tremolo plate, I realised it's just a matter of tightning the screw just next to the tremolo arm. Works like a charm. Even better than Strats.

I hope my initial thoughts on this guitar can be of any use of people who just bought it, or thinking of buying it.

I've had the same guitar (same finish) for over a year and have had no bridge problems. I put a set of 11's on it as soon as I got it and all is fine.

My favorite guitar. I bought a new Fender Jazzmaster (also SB) new in 1964, but had to sell it about ten years later while raising four sons alone. Having this Squier has really filled that hole.
