Alrightly need some help. Whoever set this up at the pawn shop cut the strings too short so when I went to retune it, the strings broke.

Went to stick a 6th string and was using an online tuner and broke the unclipped string.

Now I know COUNTERCLOCKWISE is to loosen but which is that from looking above the head ?

I also imagine perhaps I shouldn't rely on ONLINE TUNERS that use your mic input. I got a real one, I am just trying to find it.

Also did maybe trying to use a.56 on the 6th of a BULLET, A no no ?

You don't need to know which way is tightening up front - you can see and feel which way it turns.
Make sure you don't have a problem with your string tree, and obviously that you wind it the correct way, to reduce the angle.

And yes, a .56 would be way too thick. That's what we call rebar, not a string.

And .056 would likely be too thick too, unless you adjust the nut.
Modern Fenders are generally set up for .009 strings, where the E is .042 or so. 0.010 work well too. .011 or thicker sets may require filing the nut and possibly the saddle groove.

As for tuning, guitarists used to tune their instruments just fine with just a tuning fork. That still works. So don't fret (no pun intended) over whether the tuner is good enough.
You'll soon develop an ear for it, and do micro-adjustments that the tuner won't.

all good now.

I usually gibsons so the directions were confusing me with the turning.

whoever had this before, Cut the strings will short and tighten the heck out of the STRINGS.

Bonus is, I checked the small pocket of the bag and there was 2 things of Strings

WIN !

& I found my real tuner.

Could be someone used to locking tuners, where it's better to cut the strings pretty short.

I would like to know what colour this is.

In the picture it looked BLACK.

But it's a light grey/blue more on the GREY Side.

ALMOST LIKE THIS TEXT MAYBE DARKER.
