Well, I received my Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom from AMS in sunburst the other day and let me tell you that it is one nice guitar! Nice action, nice finish, and plugged into a 1982 Super Champ, nice tone.

I will say though, that I'm mighty tempted to change the strings out to an extra set of Ernie Ball Slinky strings in 10 gauge that I have. The stock strings are okay, but I really like the feel and tone of the Ernie Ball strings. I don't know, I hate to waste the strings on there, since they are new with the guitar. I might wait a while and play them for a couple of weeks and then change them out.

I feel that the brand is one hell of a value and would have no problem playing it in a professional situation (which I will and do.) In fact, it might seem to be a bit of heresy, but I like them a lot more than the standard Mexican-made Fenders. I was listening to a side by side comparison with a Classic Vibe Strat and a standard Strat and to be honest, I liked the sound of the Squier better. I felt it had more "punch" to it. Of course, this is only my opinion, and your results may vary. I just think that why should I pay more, if I don't need to? Because of the name on the headstock? I really don't give a crap about such things. As long as it suits my needs, that's all it matters to me. Obviously, it's not going to be like some custom shop instrument, or some vintage relic from the days long gone, but that's like comparing apples to oranges, anyway. Besides, they won't cost you as little as the Squier does, and I wouldn't feel too comfortable taken some expensive or rare instrument out on gigs, anyhow. At least if something happens, you'll only be out a guitar that's easily and cheaply replaceable. You can also modify it, if you want other components, too.

I'm just giving props to the brand and wouldn't hesitate on any further purchases by them. I've always liked what I've heard, and now I can say I like how they play, too. At least with mine, anyway.
