For my birthday my loving wife bought me a Squier VM 70's Strat.
It's the black body/maple neck model.
She bought it "very lightly used" from our local Fender dealer.
I knew jack squat about this model and was just happily enjoying it when my son pointed out to me that "Doesn't that model only come with a BWB pickguard?
That got me looking a lot closer.
It has a "3 ply mint green" pick guard, "aged white pickup covers"
and stamped "fender" saddles, not the thick cast ones I've seen online.
It's not officially my birthday yet so no pics as of yet , but anyone got any ideas what she bought?
The serial # is ICS1200xxxx
It's a great playing, looking and sounding guitar but after seeing what it's "supposed" to look like, I'm kinda wondering.
FWIW: I was planning on swapping the pick guard and the pickups for some Texas specials any way so that part of the equation doesn't bother me but it's a little disappointing to see a Fender dealer misrepresent what they are selling.

The dealer sold your wife a Squier VM 70's Strat that the previous owner modified. Simple as that.
