Hi, I'm new to fender and new to this forum so I apologize if this question gets asked all the time. I recently purchased a CV thinline and so far I love it. However, there are a couple of things I would like to change. A) the bridges looks and feels cheap so I would like to get a more solid bridge; and B) the neck pickup sounds off and I would like to upgrade that as well.

Can anyone offer advice on this? I'm wondering if a fender tele bridge might fit a squier tele. I've found a pickup made by seymour duncan that looks as though it may fit. Has anyone on here made any customizations to their squiers? Anything I should know about?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,
I have switched out my bridge pickup on my Squier Std Telecaster with a DiMarzio Super Distortion T and it sounds explosive (in the best way). The neck pickup has grown weak to my ears by comparison so I'm having them switched out as well for a neck humbucker.
This is due to the fact that I KNOW the neck position is routed for a humbucker in the Standard series of Squier. However, you might wanna check the routings on your CV Thinline. I would suggest a DM Twang King though or some similar aftermarket pickups.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply Jaxon. The twang king was one of the pickups I was looking into. It looks like it should fit but I will check the owner's manual re the routing. Did you have to make any adjustments to the body or the pick guard to make the pickup fit? Sorry if that is a dumb question I'm new to this whole thing.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
There are a LOT of possible replacements you can choose from! To name a few there's DiMarzio, Seymour, EMG, Artec, GuitarFetish, Fralin, Tonerider, and others.
I chose the DM Super Distortion T because it fits what I play (metalcore, post-hardcore, that kind of stuff), so that became my basis on choosing. So before selecting any specific pickup make and model, I'd advise you to select depending on your musical tastes, and of course whether your guitar is routed/appropriate for a certain kind of pickup. :) (Of course you have the option to route if you really want to, for an additional charge from a luthier)
The Twing King has good reviews but I would suggest you widen your choices so in the end you get to be happy and content with how your CV Thinline sounds.

Oh and to answer your question: when I installed the Super Distortion T (the rails one, not the traditional Super Distortion full-sized humbucker), I didn't have to route because the cavity was already in the shape of a "standard" Tele pickup.

Hope this helps,
Jaxon

How about the pick guard ?

You thinkin about changing that ?

I 've got a CV thinline too , really liking it as do any of my friends that have played it.
the only changes I'd like to make for now is the pick guard. I checked the Warmoth site , I've bought pick guards and other parts from them before. What I discovered is , after choosing all of the desired options , on the page where you configure the pick guard you are having made , there is a disclaimer stating these pick guards only fit Warmoth bodies.

I'd like to know if anyone has tried a Warmoth pick guard on a CV thinline.
