thats a very vague question, what model are you asking about, they all vary especially on sound

I have a Standard
It's great right out of the box
Durable - as in I dont mind banging it around
Sounds like a tele, set up with 009s or 010s
Plays and sounds like my american
Modded, it's as good as anything out there
Pickups pots whatever etc

Owned a Black and Chrome Tele when Guitar Center was blowing them out for $139.00. There were four there and I played each one. After I had it set up and changed the input jack to one that would not pull out, because that is a known problem it was just fine. Had it for 3 years and kept it strung with .009's and it stayed in tune and had great tone. It developed some static in the selector switch, but I just sprayed it with contact cleaner and that ended that problem. Honestly in 4 years that was the only problem I ever had.

Sold it when I got a MIM with noiseless p/u. The MIM plays a little better but I never had any complaints with my Squier. It had the great Tele sound to it.

Bottom line, go and try out the one you want, and look for them used. GC always has used ones in stock. The Classic Vintage models are just great.

I have a Squier Classic Vibe Custom, I guess one of the most expensive Squire Telecasters. I also own a Fender FSR Black Paisley Telecaster, basically a Fender Standard Telecaster MIM, which sells for a bit more than the Squier I own. I tried 2 of the Fenders in this model to pick one. I tried about a dozen of the Squier in this model to pick the best one.

The fit and finish of my Squier is about equal to my Fender as best I can determine.

They play equally well, although they have different necks. The Fender was setup by the store tech. The Squier came out of the box setup pretty much to my taste.

The Fender sounds better to my ears, but it is a more modern sound. The Squier is meant to be a more vintage Tele sound. So they are supposed to be different, they are not a direct comparison.

While I think my Fender is superior to my Squier based on the sound, I would love to own a couple more Squier Telecasters. In fact, I have another Squier Tele on my "next buy list".

I say go find a guitar shop and try it out. Everybody is different and has different taste and style, trying one out yourself is the only surefire way to know. And unless your rough on gear it should last for many years.

I own a Butterscotch Affinity model which I recently got brand new. IMO, it's the best sounding guitar for it's price. I'm 54 and have been playing for 40 years and I'm just blown away at the quality and sound of it. It's no wonder why guitarists love these babies.
Plus to also improve the sound of it, I installed a Greasebucket tone kit, which you can get on E-Bay for only a few bucks. I paid 6 dollars and it was definitely worth it. I highly recommend this mod for any affinity tele owner.
