Sure. My first guitar was a no name Chinese brand worth $350. It was solid, played well, set up well and even the weather had trouble bending it out of tune. It badly needed the cavity shielding, but once that was done, it was great.

But I lucked out, I had no idea what to look for in a good and bad guitar, and just went with how it felt and sounded. I still don't feel comfortable checking a guitar out, the more you find out the less you know.

By way of follow up, I did install new strings, I also added 2 springs (total 5) to the tremolo mechanism in the back removed the whammy bar, this guitar now holds tune great, only humidity fluctuations when the air conditioning is off change it slightly. I am pleased as punch with this great guitar. :D
