I play for about 7 to 18 hours a day. I've been doing this for about 5 years

I aim for at least one hour a day. Now I can tell you what and how I practice but you have to consider YOUR goals.
My recommendations are to not forget about rhythm playing; every great lead player I have known has been a solid rhythm player.
Practice your scales; I read one time that Clapton still practices his scales everyday. As someone else suggested, learn songs. Learning songs will help you understand how tha scales are applied.
And lastly, practice diiferent styles. Spend a month working on blues, a month on jazz, a month on funk, etc., etc.

Where is Dana? It has been 2 years and wondering how the guitar playing has progressed. Practice helps your playing. Picking/finger technique as well as fretting technique. Control of those two will help more than I can explain. Using any of the learning tools mentioned will further progress.

My best advise would be to make the most out of all your practice time. I used to waste time going over the same things over and over. If I learned a new scale or chord progression I would keep repeating it long after I had it smoothed out and could play it with my eyes closed. But if I put the guitar down to answer a 2 minute phone call it would take awhile before I had it nailed again. Ended up being easier to learn 2 different scales at the same time. Play one over and over till I had it down, then a few more minutes. Then do the same with other scale. When I get that one figured out and smooth I go back to the first one. It always takes a few run-throughs before it smooths out again but after it does get easy again I go back to the second. After going back and forth a few times I can transition from one scale to the other without that awkward moment in between.

I tell the young guys I've helped. Play a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Keeps your hands primed and ready. I am 48 and started playing when I was 7. I am in 2 bands. I LOVE To play and LOVE my Fender and Squier gear. Some I've had since I was a kid. I play to my music files on my computer. I play a couple hours a day. My wife likes me to play to her. I had a massive heart attack in 2011. She brought me my Jazzmaster and my mini tone-master to play in bed. My Fenders and Squiers played a huge part of my healing process. Lowered stress and blood pressure. Never stop and never give up either
