Found this model online and am trying to locate as much info as I can. Found some of the main info about them (E-series Japan, HSS alnico's, 3 toggles, etc). But trying to get into the gritty details like the wood type of the body and such. Heard some of the info is in the 1988 fender catalog, but having no luck finding one online. Appreciate any and all info.

Thanks! !

Looks like I was incorrect and the info wasn't listed in the 1988 catalog. Found a quick over-view in a squier pamphlet from around 1987. Unfortunately it doesn't list the wood type and the pamphlet actually has incorrect info as it lists the scale of the guitar as 25.5 when in fact it's 24.75.

Here's a pic of the guitar in question.

This answer has been hanging 'bout a week and a half - had some trouble with forum error messages etc. Lets see if copy&paste now gets it...

You're in trouble...

The Japanese Fenders/Squiers of that era are a real pain in the ash when you look for info. I guess you've already read this (over 8.5 MB but still gives very little...):

SquierSpecs.pdf

On the body: my best guesses are alder and basswood, but if you've hit the jackpot it may even be mahoganny. You might recognize the wood by taking the neck off and checking the unpainted neck pocket - a carpenter friend would be useful here.

Anyways, you got a very versatile quality instrument so enjoy it even if some of its secrets remain unveiled.

Your guitar actually rises at least one additional question, regarding a scale conversion neck conversation some while ago on the forum: would that 22-fret, 24.75" scale neck be straight-on, drop-in compatible with a standard Strat body built for 25.5"-scale ..?

The only conclusion I've been able to come up with is Basswood. The wood is a whiter hue vs the darker alder. The weight and build is really deceiving as it's built like a tank and weighs around 8lbs fully assembled. Here's a few pics of the neck pocket from two separate guitars that are the same model and color.
