i love my affinity tele to death, the necks comfort and playability alone is worth the price.
my only complaint fender, is the top loading bridge. its such a pain. i know the affinity is a lower end guitar from squier, with the slimmer body. but imo, string through would make life so much easier. even if the price was up a bit.
discuss?

Turn it into a string through yourself. Just need the proper bridge and an electric drill. Did mine with a hand drill. Not perfect, but I don't look at the backside of the guitar much. Turned mine into an Esquire. :D

Got to agree with Bluesky there, it isnt that difficult a job. If you have a string through bridge plate you have the template for the 6 holes you need to drill

I used a Squire Standard Tele bridge plate with Guitar Fetish stainless steel saddles.

Its fairly common and easy to do. A drill press makes it easier, but I don't have one. A hand electric drill did just fine. I enlarged the holes on the back of the guitar slightly and used a hammer to install the string ferrules.

it will probably say import bridge or words to that effect, but measure the width from E to e most sites give measurements too.

Anyone wanting to do this themselves can buy an expensive attachment for their drill that will allow you to make perfectly straight holes (no angle), so they will be in perfect alignment when they come out the back.

Why waste the money? Who sees the back of the guitar? When you are done, what do you do with the "expensive attachment"? My method worked just fine.

I'm sorry, I meant an "inexpensive" plastic attachment. It has many uses and makes the job look professional. "Who looks at the back of your guitar?", everyone on this site. No offense intended.

Personally, I don't care what people think about the looks of the back of my guitar. All I care is that it works and does the job, which it certainly does. :D

The back of your guitar, in fact your entire guitar, looks great! Sure it sounds good too.
