Help? Not having very good luck with the Squier series so far. Just received my new VM today, plugged it in and .........nothing! Mustang 1 amp seems to be working fine. Tap on end of cable at guitar end and seems live but when I plug in, nothing??

Could this be insanely simple or is this one going back too(previously had to send a Squier Strat OS/USB back due to connectivity issues)? :(

Thanks

Check the combination with another cable, guitar and amp; changing one at the time tells you where the system fails.

If that diagnoses that the guitar is mute, check that the jack plate nut is tight. If OK, take the jack plate off and check that the wires are connected right. If OK, you can take the pickguard off and look for loose wires there.

Since it is a new guitar, you can of course send it back for repair/replacement, if you're not comfortable with fixing it yourself.

As far as those insanely simple causes go, did you check that the guitar's volume is turned on? 8)

Yeh, I was hoping for a super secret hidden "on" switch or something since it did cross my mind to turn the volume up. In fact, I turned everything up, including the gain on the amp and was able to get a slight change in buzz pitch when I adjusted the guitar volume but still no output.

Anyway I contacted the vendor who asked me to email a support tech for advise and I am awaiting his response. Part of me wants to rip it apart and fix it but another part says I really shouldn't have to. Principal I guess, but the reality is, shipping it back and waiting for repair/replacement is not that appealing either :?

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
