OK, so here's this thing that came up and now I feel like I need some help, so I will ask you guys here. If you had to pick between keeping a 2010 Squier Bullet and '97 Squier Affinity, which one would you guys choose to keep? Both Made in China, no big deal there, both feel really good. The only real difference is the Affinity has that pickguard old creamy tone, y'know, not white, 'cause it was kept somewhere unused for quite a few years, until now, but still looks and feels like brand new, I mean, for what I can tell, it wasn't very much used at all, but... Is there a way to know which is better? I know that's rather subjective but I still would like to know from Fender experts or anyone familiar with these types of Fender guitars, because someone is offering me a trade (I own the Bullet), so which one would you choose? Are guitars like wine, "the older the better" or are they more like "newer = better"? Anyone, please? Thanks!

By what i can work out the bullet comes in the starter packs, the affinity is pretty much the next model up in the squier range. As far as which one is better, as far as components go i would imagine if they are both stock they would be very similar, the rest is subjective in my opinion and really is down to the person holding it, if you have tried both and one feels better in your hands than the other choose that one.

Hope this helps.

Thank you alfunkz. It does help, because that's kinda of what I thought. So, the fact that the Affinity is so much older is really not an issue, right? And again, they look just the same. I really like my Bullet, I thought maybe the Affinity had something the Bullet didn't or viceversa but they're the same. I'll probably keep the Affinity, maybe one day they will call those "vintage", lol....

What is your budget ? I just got a used Classic Vibe 60's Strat at Guitar Center 2 days ago, for only $250.00, that would blow both the Bullet and Affinty models away. They are the best models that Squier has out today. I would seriously look into getting one of those.

Hi, GuitarSam. The thing is I'm not buying it, it's just this guy who wants to trade his '97 Affinity for my '10 Bullet. I have them both right now. I removed the pickguard of the Affinity and it looks like brand new, only a little dust inside and by the bridge, which I've cleaned already. I also polished the frets, a little spring adjustment, new strings and it sounds and feels great, just like the Bullet. As i said, the only thing is the pickguard color, Bullet is white, Affinity is creamy, please take a look:

Well, the more I play with the Affinity, the more I like it. And I guess this guitar only needed a basic adjustment and someone to play with!

OK, so I have made up my mind and I decided to go ahead and trade my 2010 Bullet for the Affinity. As I said, the look is nice to me and playing with it feels great. I was kinda sad to let that go but that's ok, I'm always more into vintage stuff anyways, so... I might only change the knobs for black ones, I think those will make it look even better... I'll show it to you guys when it's ready... :-p

Neither. Save up and get a Classic Vibe Strat.
Not a great deal more expensive, but a massively better instrument.
