Has anyone tried to connect this gitar with mini USB/USB cable to Rocksmith (PC)? I hope using the rocksmith jack/USB adapter is not the only option.

I am thinking about it also, however, i dont have a Rocksmith game to test the guitar...

I heard RockSmith is dongled to its USB/Audio cable, so I think there will be no legal way to use the USB squier other than via the audio jack....

I've just got my guitar, but i have some issues with it maybe you can help me.
1. have I connect to iPad if i want to use the headphone output? It's very noise. Sound is clear if i use the passive output (and an active speaker)
2. Windows recognize it as USB guitar. But PitchPerfect Guitar Tuner can't recognize it. Should I set something in windows?

I would think you have to connect, because I asume the preamp in the guitar is powered by the USB port. One should try connecting the USB port of the guitar to a 5V/charge only USB and test if there is a signal on the phone output.

I myself would assume that the phone out at the guitar gives you a signal that the guitar receives back from the iPad (channeled thru e.g. an amp app on the iPad) over USB. This would open ways to aplify the guitar sound and mix other audio in.

If you have noise try to switch between the pickups with the selector switch. I think the humbucker (selector all the way back) has the least amount of noise. Also try the pickup volume knob (top) and tone.

I will try it with Reaper and let you know

1. I tried the headphone output when the guitar was connected to PC. There was a static noise but nothing else. So yeah you were right about channeled thru theory.

2. After an hour random clicking :) somehow the sound go thru to the speakers of computer. Although it's very noisy and creepy.

No joy with selecting another pickup and some knob turning?

Ok, just tried to connect the Squier USB to my PC.

I used the Reaper DAW and the ASIO4ALL driver to record and, _man_ this is crystal clear audio coming in from the guitar. At least on par with my Apogee Jam...

Now I have finally catched the bug on this guitar, because its so easy to connect for recording.

Best regards & have a nice sunday

Kai

I am totally new to this and tried to get the Guitar to interact with Reaper. I have a couple questions for you if you would be so kind...

Can you hear the guitar through the PC speakers using Reaper?

How do you configure Reaper to recognize the Guitar and enable recording of the Instrument?

Are there other options other than reaper for PC integration?

The free ASIO4ALL driver gives you all options from which device you get input and where to output the sound. So every combination (PC speaker out, Squier USB headphone out) is possible.

ASIO4ALL is so versatile and performs with so little latency (which is always a concern if you are listening while recording) on recent hardware, I can't believe its (still) free....

In the Options/Preferences dialog in Reaper under Audio/Device just select ASIO as your audio system. When you add a track in reaper and arm it for recording, Reaper than loads the driver which you can access in the systray. The UI of the driver shows all input and output options and you can make your choices

By the way "Home Recording for Beginners" by Geoffrey Francis is a _very_ good read. He introduces you to all aspects of recording with Reaper as his DAW of choice.

And the non-commercial license for Reaper is so (compareable) cheap, it hurts... ;-)

If you just want to perform with an amp and not recording, give Native Instruments "Guitar Rig Player" a try. It's free and a lot of fun...

Best Regards

I'm having the same problem trying to update my firmware on Windows 7. No amp connected, please connect an amplifier in boot mode.
(Edit)
Just re-loaded the firmware updater and this time program promted for a fuse guitar to be connected instead....I'm thinking there was a bad link the first time? Maybe an Amp updater instead of USB guitar? Anyways took 2 seconds to actually run the update once everything was connected. Oh, downloaded Firmware Updater from Support, Downloads, Featured Downloads,Software Downloads the second time. (Top of Page)

Do we know if there are any "lesson" apps either for IOS or PC that integrate with the new Squier?

Not specific to the Squier but take a look at http://getinstinct.com/

My nephew used "Rock Prodigy" on my iPad during the holidays. It seems to give some good bang for the bucks as long you use the (free) lessons. Expect to pay some additional money if you want to rock along some actual music.

There seems to be some movement in the market of "guitar games" with UbiSoft RockSmith just beeing released and Realta's BandFuse in the pipes...

Rock Prodigy seems to be more serious about the "learning" part, anyway. I kind of liked what I saw.

Having been in the past a Harmonix RockBand 3 aficionado (only pro-mode, of course ;-) I am eager to see how these three do...

Best Regards

Kai

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your inquiries and valuable discussion here. The Squier® Strat® USB Guitar can connect to iOS devices and functions as an input & output device. You will need to monitor through the headphone output on the guitar as it becomes the output device when connected to iOS devices.

With Mac OS, the guitar is seen as a Core Audio device. You can use it with a variety of software that is Core Audio compatible including GarageBand and you can select the guitar as your input device as well as your output device. You can also select a different output device with Mac OS.

With Windows OS, you will want to use the Fender Universal ASIO driver. The ASIO FOR ALL driver should work as well. But we would suggest that you start with the Fender Universal as a first choice. Please see the links below. And please let us know if we can assist further.
