I think I saw the price come down on them to 249 but now I'm not sure. I'll do a pricegrabber.com thingy...yeah 249.99. I couldn't say anything about its play though.

I just dig the pickguard, but I have heard some good reviews about it. I'm wondering if its routed for a neck pu though....

Hello Flamekaster,

I played one over at the music superstore.

The neck felt good,

the star inlay on the board was really quite well done,

Pickups left a lot to be desired,

The pickguard which I think looked great
the black squares were only painted on and
may become strummed of with quick dispatch.

Those were my impressions.

Cheers.

bowl, what the guys at me local store said was it is just a standard squire tele body, i have also been looking at a mim esquire, and suppoadly they both are that way, take off the guard and poof you can add a second pu. I dont know, i am rather hard on guitars, i just wonder if it will hold up to my abuse. I want to put a pearly gates in the bridge.

I bought one last Fall ('07). The fit and finish is outstanding. I wanted a simple guitar to continue learning on. I like the concept of the Gibson Melody Maker but I'm a Fender man. The over-priced Melody Maker can't hold a candle to the AL Tele. The humbucker is what I expected ... Okay but nothing to write home about. The only disappointment was the pickguard. It just looked cheap in the flesh. I searched high and low but could not find a replacement. I sent the original to Chandler Guitars in California and had them make a duplicate in B/W/B gloss. Its on the way to me now. The Tele body is routed for the humbucker only. I ordered a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB and will replace the original once it arrives. My AL Tele came with a 500k volume pot. Hope this is helpful.
