Didn't you just ask this question earlier?

Be patient and wait for an answer, don't just keep asking the same question over and over.

Unfortunately, Fender necks (or Fender parts a lot of times) will not always line up with Squiers. You think they would, but they oftentimes don't. Mainly you'll want to look for a neck that is compatible with the neck pocket depth and neck screw spacing, or be prepared to drill new holes into a neck if necessary. Then if you want the same feel as your Squier, you'll need to make sure the width, radius, and fret wire size are all similar too. So it can be done, it may just be a little more research for you in order to do it.

Your gonna have to measure the neck pocket on the body and find a neck that fits. I would try Warmoth Guitars on the web. They have a lot of specs.

If you are trying to fit a Fender Standard neck you might have to add wood to the body or remove from the neck. You will need a router and some training on how to do it. Be very careful you don't hurt yourself. These tools can be very dangerous if not used properly.

Do some research on the web. Find out how it is done. There are a lot of builders out there that share info.

Best of luck,

WOW! Thanks for the info! I was thinking about doing the exact same thing, glad I didn't huh?

I'm currently Hot-Rodding my Squire Strat as well... with a Deluxe MIA neck Fender Hot Noiseless pickus and a roller nut... and technicaly by the specs they are idential but realisticaly they are off just a hair when you go to install it... this was the case with my Indonesian made Squire since they converted the mesurements to metric... it was super easy though just plug the holes drill new ones to match the neck... and if your not very handy, the tech guy at GC will do it and give your guitar a nifty little tune up... for $50...

But to be honest you would have the same problem if you tried to put an MIA neck on a MIM Strat.

BTW I recommend stick with the 2 post floating treme that came with it... the only upgrade you could do is the 6 post American treme... since the squire has the same bridge as any MIM Strat on the market!!!

Hope that helps,
Rock on!!!

Sometimes even Squire necks dont fit other Squire bodies. I tried to see if a 1994 Squire Strat(Made in China) neck would fit onto an E series(1984-87) Squire Strat body. Nope, they dont fit. The older guitars neck pocket is too narrow. Also, my nice Allparts neck wont fit the Squire body without some mods. I hate to chisel and rout. Once done, there is no going back!!!
I would love to see some sort of standard among Fender/Squire products, but don't see it ever happening due to financial concerns, and manufacturing variables.

As other's have said, it really depends on the model of Squire. My new Squire Standard for example seems to be completely compatible with my MIM Standard where as the Bullets and Affinitys can really vary. As other's have already stated, you will want to do your homework here and measure everything to ensure a proper fit.

My question is why are you looking to change the neck in the first place? Is there something specifically wrong with it? Again here it depends on the individual instrument, but on the higher end Squires for example, the necks are very good and can be quite comparable to "genuine Fender". Depending on your motivation here, there's a couple of things to consider. First and foremost if it is a lower end Squire...a bullet, a "Strat" or a "Starcaster", etc., it's not really going to be worth a new neck...for what you are going to pay for a genuine Fender neck (or even a good licensed one), assuming you find one that fits, you could get a higher end Squire and have a great neck to go with it. Also...and I think this is worth saying...if it's simply the Squire logo there on the headstock and there is otherwise nothing wrong with the neck and you want something that says "Fender", while it's perhaps a bit morally ambiguous, changing the logo on the headstock is a lot more cost effective than changing the whole neck.

Anyways, there's a lot of stuff there for you to consider. If you do decide to get a new neck, again make sure you do your homework and that starts with knowing what you have so that you can get a proper matchup otherwise this could end up being a much larger project than you had bargained for...routing a neck cavity on a guitar body is a -serious- mod, requires good luthier skills, the proper equipment and is not for the faint-hearted.

Good Luck,
Jim

Just as a heads up, if i remember correctly for the 6 post trems on import strats and squiers should be running a 2 and 1/16th string spacing while Americans run a 2 and 3/16ths so the 6 post screws do not line up. Not sure what the measurements are on the 2 post trems.
